Installation at Depford Lounge Library for Imagined Worlds Group Exhibition

3rd-30th November 2025

An opportunity to see a selection of work from Angela McMahon’s highly successful immersive 2024 installation at Lewisham Arthouse Invasion of the Jellyfish. These sculptures of fantastical, strange and bizarre sea creatures made from collected and reclaimed materials imagine the undersea world where pollution and climate change have created the ideal conditions for jellyfish to thrive and dominate as other creatures die out.

The project draws on scientific research and highlights a number of environmental issues that affect the oceans such as plastic waste, climate change and pollution from agricultural runoff, industrial effluent and sewage. The aesthetics of the installation aim to draw in the viewer and provide an accessible route to understand how human activity impacts the delicate balance of ocean ecosystems.
