Hexacombe 2016

Telegraph Hill Festival 2016.

Hexacombe was inspired by the hexagonal patterns in nature, the organic carbon ring molecules from which the plastic is made and the substance itself. Plastic is also known as polymer which comes from the Greek ‘poly’ which means many and ‘mer’ which means unit.

The hexagonal shape is extrapolated from micro to macro to form the Hexacombe pavilion.

In nature, hexagonal packing forms robust and elegant structures. Viewed from below the Hexacombe canopy is reminiscent of a honeycomb. This is enhanced at night with the warm amber glow of the lights.
